Four two-bedroom, two bath triplexes are centered around a shared central courtyard that features two native White Oak trees, which serve as the catalyst for the neighborhood’s identity.

Project Description

The Oaks at RoseVilla is a zero energy community of 12 Craftsman-style residences designed for people who want to age in place while living sustainably. Named for the mature oak tree at the heart of the neighborhood, The Oaks is the first senior housing community in Portland, Oregon, designed to produce as much or more energy than it uses through on-site renewable energy.

Residents enjoy comfortable, quiet homes with fresh, filtered air. Additionally, each home features durable, high-quality finishes, modern energy-efficient appliances and thoughtful amenities such as bicycle storage. The courtyard is a popular gathering spot for residents of The Oaks as well as friends, family and neighbors.

For me, living in a zero energy community inspires me to think about what I can do to reduce my impact on the environment. I want to leave this planet better for my grandkids, and it feels good to be part of a community of people who feel the same way.

The success of The Oaks was tremendous for us. The idea that people wanted to be able to live their values, and in this kind of setting, could afford to, and hearing the way people talked about it was really transformative.
