Olia Poké & Tea is a family-owned restaurant located in the OHSU Knight Cancer Research Building in Southeast Portland. When taking over the lease, the owners set out to create a welcoming, healthy restaurant where doctors, researchers, students, patients and families can purchase convenient, healthy fast food. We served as the general contractor overseeing the tenant improvements needed to transform the space into a modern, bright dining experience.
The interior reflects the owners’ values and the food being served—healthy and simple. Above the long, modern bar tiled in white, soft lighting illuminates from a low ceiling made of hemlock tongue-and-groove boards salvaged from the main building project. Customers can choose to sit at cozy benches with built-in storage made of sustainably managed white oak custom-made by Green Hammer carpenters. Abundant glass windows allow sunlight to flood into the space.
The most important thing to me is trust. I fully trusted Green Hammer throughout the entire process. This was not just a business transaction. It meant much more to us.
