Hale Whole House Renovation

We took a holistic approach to this comprehensive renovation of a 1930s home. 

The kitchen and of the Hale Residence featuring a central open-riser staircase with thick wood treads and a modern cable railing system that maintains sightlines and allows natural light to flow through the space. The structure utilizes exposed Glulam beams and a prominent industrial-style steel post to support the open floor plan. Flooring: The home is anchored by wide-plank natural wood flooring that coordinates with the ceiling beams and stair treads

A contemporary primary bathroom of the Hale Residence featuring a long, wall-mounted vanity crafted from light-toned wood with a prominent vertical grain. Project Description

When our clients purchased this 1930s home in Portland’s Alameda neighborhood, it was structurally sound but burdened by a patchwork of outdated renovations that had compromised its original character.

Our renovation reconnected the home’s living spaces, expanded the kitchen and dining area, and introduced a contemporary design that feels at home within both the historic house and its neighborhood.
