Laura Squillace

Architect | CoDirector of Design
  • Laura Squillace

Laura brings a dynamic background in environmental science, illustration and education to her work at Green Hammer.

Laura finds great joy in creating buildings that resonate deeply with both the people and places that the buildings touch. To do this, she listens closely to what the client and the context wants, and collaboratively brings their ideas to fruition.

Laura earned her Masters in Architecture from the University of Oregon. She also studied environmental sciences and illustration, both of which strongly inform her work as a designer today. She's passionate about creating sustainable, beautiful buildings, and is inspired by her belief that not only is it possible to create buildings that give back (to clients, communities and ecosystems) more than they take – it's imperative.

Prior to working at Green Hammer, Laura designed a broad-spectrum of projects, ranging from multi-family cohousing communities and single-family residences, to complex healthcare facilities, urban master plans and innovative office headquarters. Aside from her design experience, Laura has also spent many years advocating for greener buildings, including teaching classes for Habitat for Humanity and co-developing one of the nation’s first green building programs.

Since joining Green Hammer in the fall of 2016, she couldn’t be happier to be part of a unified design-build team that shares her passion for sustainability and design quality.

Aside from Laura having fun designing your next project, you’ll probably find her bicycling through town, paddling down a river, growing food in her backyard or building mind-boggling Lego castles with her son.
