This modern net-zero energy house incorporating age-in-place design is tucked into the ledges along the Rogue River in Southern Oregon. The 3,200 square-foot house includes a rooftop sky observation deck, vaulted living-kitchen-dining area, built-in entertainment center, home gym and library. Built to the Passive House standard, the super energy-efficient house features triple-pane windows, exterior insulation and advanced heat recovery ventilation, which keep energy costs low. A 7-kilowatt rooftop solar array can produce more energy than the house consumes. Multiple covered deck areas clad with cedar reclaimed from a deconstructed timber frame bridge provide inviting spaces to rest and contemplate the river, sky and savannah oak canopy views.
