Mai brings decades of experience and a strong sense of curiosity to his role as a lead carpenter. “Curiosity is my super power,” he says.

He strives to go over and beyond what is asked of him, and is a natural mentor. Having owned and run businesses, including his own construction and manufacturing companies, communication companies, marketing and coaching platforms, he knows how important relationships are to an organization’s success. Mai has lived in St. Louis, Baltimore, Portland and on the Oregon Coast. When he moved back to Portland to be near his children and grandchildren, he knew he wanted to work for a company that he “believes in”.  He says he appreciates Green Hammer’s environmental ethos and is gaining new insights into sustainable building practices.

Over the years, Mai has built numerous homes on the Street of Dreams home tour. He says he has always loved working on custom homes because they offer him the opportunity to do things that aren’t always feasible on other projects. "There are things in this home that you will never see in another home,” he says, pointing to one of Green Hammer’s latest high-performance homes. “That gets me excited."

When he is not working, Mai loves spending time with his family, especially learning from his grandkids.
