Elizabeth’s goal to build her own tiny home led her to enroll in the Oregon Tradeswomen Trades and Apprenticeship Career Class in 2018. There, she gained critical skills as well as connections to women working in the building trades. Through Green Hammer Project Engineer, Chelsea Acker, she learned of an opening at Green Hammer and was hired in early 2021, eager to get experience putting her new knowledge and skill set to work.
While she didn’t get much exposure to building growing up, she says she loves everything about carpentry. “There are so many different ways to get to a final product,” she says. “I enjoy the process and problem solving.”
While her focus is carpentry, she is eager to learn about all aspects of the design build process. She’s not afraid to jump into a new project, and has been able to learn a lot of new skills on the job from her colleagues. When she’s not working, Elizabeth is likely camping, hiking, and finding other ways to explore the outdoors.
