The expectations for residential buildings are changing rapidly. Today’s homeowners are looking for homes that are not only beautiful, but also healthy, comfortable, energy efficient and built to last.

For building professionals, keeping up with the latest best practices can be challenging. That’s where the Sustainable Homes Professional (SHP) Training Program offered by Earth Advantage comes in.

Designed for builders, designers, contractors and other industry professionals, the SHP program provides practical, field-tested guidance on how to deliver higher-performing homes in today’s housing market.

A Proven Training Program—Now in a Flexible Online Format

For years, SHP was offered as an intensive 84-hour, in-person training. Today, the program has been redesigned into a condensed, self-paced online format that allows busy professionals to learn at their own pace while gaining the same cutting-edge insights.

Participants complete 15 hours of core training, with an additional five-plus hours of optional bonus content, including:

  • Training videos
  • Behind-the-walls site visit tours
  • Live webinars with instructor Q&As
  • Guest speaker presentations
  • Product and technology demonstrations

This flexible format makes it easier than ever for professionals across the Northwest—and beyond—to access high-quality building-science training.

Continuing Education and Professional Recognition

Participants who complete the training can earn continuing education credits and have the opportunity to obtain Sustainable Homes Professional (SHP) designation, demonstrating their expertise in sustainable and high-performance residential construction.

For professionals looking to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving housing market, the SHP program provides both valuable knowledge and a recognized credential. The course is taught by experienced professionals, including Green Hammer Design Build founder and president, Stephen Aiguier.
