SHP (Sustainable Home Professional)
Michael is a veteran of Green Hammer, celebrating 20 years with the company in 2026. He brings a vibrant personality, engaging demeanor, and a passion for education to our design-build team. As he says, “When we design intentional spaces, there’s no need to check fun at the door.”
In his role as Integration Champion, Michael plays a crucial part in every component of a project’s life cycle. He combines extensive design knowledge with 30 years of residential construction experience in a design-build environment.
Originally from suburban Chicago, Michael considers Green Hammer his adopted family. Over the past 20 years, he has led countless certified projects and played a key role in the company’s expansion into Southern Oregon. While relocating for several years, he helped establish our reputation for delivering high-performance buildings with quality craftsmanship in the region.
Michael’s passion for nature and quality construction was honed during a decade spent in the mountains of Sun Valley/Ketchum. He was then drawn to Portland to join a team that “does things a little differently,” seeking a firm that aligned with his environmental ethos and drive for innovation.
In addition to his professional work, Michael volunteers as a large art installation curator at the Oregon Country Fair. If you have an hour to spare, ask him about plants and gardening; he loves sharing his knowledge!
He also serves as the (unpaid and unofficial) archivist of Green Hammer, constantly threatening to curate a slideshow of the company’s halcyon days. As he often humorously states, “They did not hire me for my sense of humor. That was just the icing on the cake.”
