RA (Registered Architect) Oregon
SHP (Sustainable Home Professional)
Laura is an award-winning architect who designs buildings that are as beautiful as they are sustainable. She finds great joy in creating elegant design solutions inspired by the unique people and places of each project.
As the co-director of our design team, Laura facilitates a collaborative design process that is deeply engaging. Her process begins with careful listening—understanding both the client’s vision and the site’s unique character—then collaborating closely to bring those ideas to life. She is known for her design creativity, positive energy and quick thinking. Clients often comment on how fun the interactive design process is with her.
With decades of experience, Laura has an extensive portfolio of projects spanning from LEED-certified and Zero Energy homes to multi-family cohousing communities, master plans, healthcare clinics, and schools. Regardless of building type, she focuses on creating healthy, inspiring places that integrate nature’s beauty and regenerative systems.
In addition to designing projects, Laura leads the firm’s healthy materials research efforts. She is also an active leader in the Portland Materials Transparency Collaborative (PMTC), advocating for full disclosure of building material ingredients and impacts (on human and ecological health).
She earned her Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies with a focus on green building and scientific illustration.
When she’s not designing the next inspiring project, Laura can often be found bicycling through town, paddling down a river, growing food in her backyard, or traveling the world with her family and her sketchbook.
