We’re excited to share our role in Prismid Sanctuary, an artist community and regenerative space designed to nurture Indigenous, Black and people of color in Portland’s St. John’s community. The vision of Grammy Award-winning bassist, composer, vocalist, and educator esperanza spalding and Mick Rose, Prismid Sanctuary will be a net-zero energy building featuring a performing arts studio, wellness center, outdoor stage, tea bar and library.
We’re honored to serve as the builder, partnering with Adre—a socially responsible real estate firm—and Allied Works Architecture. The community-led design is intentionally light on the land. With a goal of LEED Gold certification, the building will meet high standards for energy conservation and indoor air quality, creating a healthy and comfortable space where people can gather, create and relax. An expansive garden will supply free organic produce to the local community.
Invest in Prismid Sanctuary
The land was originally purchased in 2021, thanks to a crowdfunding effort that resulted in over $350,000 in donations from more than 650 people. The rebuild is currently in its pre-development phase, with construction tentatively scheduled to begin in January 2026 and the opening projected for spring 2027. Construction costs are estimated at $7 million. Prismid has currently raised 50% of its goal. To learn more and contribute to the rebuild campaign, visit prismid.org/support.
