An experienced and skilled carpenter, Casey grew up in a construction family and never imagined doing anything else. “It’s a great way to live,” he says. Being outside, working with his hands and having a creative outlet are some of the reasons why he loves being a carpenter.
Before moving to Portland, Casey was a carpenter in New Orleans. He worked alongside the same crew of people for 7 years, mastering his craft while tackling intricate historic preservation projects. After discovering the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, he decided to escape the hot, humid Louisiana summers and make Portland his permanent home.
Casey says he was attracted to Green Hammer’s company culture, where the office and field crew are open minded, passionate and respectful of one another. “I feel like I found my home.” Having worked on conventional construction projects most of his career, Casey says he’s experienced a somewhat steep learning curve at Green Hammer.
“That’s a good thing,” he adds. “It’s exciting to learn about leading-edge materials and practices. It’s the way of the future.”
Casey is affable and great with people, and quickly develops a friendly nickname for everyone. He takes surprises in stride and he works with the team to find creative solutions to problems.
When he’s not working, Casey is likely hiking or camping with his German Shepard in tow or fixing up his own house.
