One Stop Plaza — the vision of Karanja Crews, founder of Teaching with Purpose — is a Black-owned business and cultural hub poised to become a beacon of community empowerment. It offers Black and minority entrepreneurs a dynamic stage to present their culturally diverse products, services, cuisine, and entertainment, inspiring a sense of hope and optimism in the community. One Stop will feature 10 permanent food carts, an outdoor dining area, and a covered stage. Additionally, it will renovate an existing building into a welcoming, energy-efficient space for locally-owned businesses.

With sustainability and resilience as top priorities, Crews enlisted Green Hammer to develop the site plan and schematic design. The plans for the existing building entail installing modern, energy-efficient LED lighting, mini-split heat pumps, a heat pump water heater, and new insulation, windows and exterior doors. One Stop Plaza will be equipped with a 1,200-gallon rainwater storage tank and a 36-kilowatt solar array, enabling it to double as an emergency shelter during severe weather events and power outages. One Stop Plaza is in Portland's Soul District at NE 15th Avenue and NE Killingsworth Street.
